Meet Angela Clay, Community Engagement Coordinator

Angela Clay is our new Community Engagement Coordinator. This position, which is new to Uplift, is designed to ensure that Uplift continues to be an involved neighbor in the Uptown community and City of Chicago, at large. Angela's portfolio includes organizing and administering Uplift's recruitment efforts, planning for student life, and outreach to current and future community members. 

More About Ms. Clay
  1. Where did you attend school? I attended high school at Uplift Community High School & graduated from DePaul University (Go Blue Demons!)
  2. What excites you most about your new role? What excites me the most about my new role is connecting with a new generation of students to produce our next world leaders. I'm also excited to build relationships between students, parents, & community stakeholders to share resources and amazing ideas. 
  3. Why did you choose to become a Community Engagement Coordinator? I chose to become the Community Engagement Coordinator because it's imperative that our community supports our students & vice versa. Our school is located in a diverse, accessible & historic community that offers them a world class education at their fingertips. 
  4. Why did you choose Uplift? I truly believe Uplift chose me! As a former Titan my passion for justice,community engagement & culturally relevant curriculum all came from being a student at Uplift.  
  5. What is an interesting fact about you? An interesting facts about myself is I've lived in Uptown all of my life, my family has actually been in the community for over 80 years.
